A Quiet Beginning
I have been celebrating two New Years all my life: January 1st and the Lunar New Year.
January 1st follows the Gregorian calendar- a system rooted largely in social agreement and collective structure.
In contrast, the Lunar New Year follows the lunar cycle, which has a direct astronomical influence on our environment and on all living beings.
My relationship with these two New Years has shifted over time, and perhaps yours has as well.
Regardless of which New Year holds greater meaning for you, our collective consciousness places deep significance on these dates.
They mark a time that invites a necessary retreat from the external world.
Because in this day and age, many of us are deeply consumed by daily routines: duties, schedules, meetings, responsibilities, and constant stimulation.
Some of us rarely have a moment to ourselves.
A moment to pause.
A moment to truly rest.
The New Year reminds us to slow down, to reflect, and to reorient ourselves.
It starts with stillness, not initiation.
It starts with honesty, not ambitious goals.
When we ground ourselves, clarity emerges.
When we are honest with ourselves, we can reassess our life paths and realign with what our hearts truly desire.
As we walk our path, we begin to experience what we are truly seeking along the way.
I invite you to slow it down this New Year- to savor the joy and sweetness of life.
As some of you might know, one of my grounding internal practice is Qi Gong,
I am hosting a 55 minutes practice on January 11th at 1:11 pm, for $11.
The intention of this practice is to ground ourselves while cultivating spring’s Wood energy, preparing us to move forward into the Fire Horse year with clarity and vitality.
