Light Within Darkness

Winter Solstice (12/21) marked the shortest day of the year.

The days are getting longer.

Day by day.

In the Yin Yang symbol, it is the small white circle.

It marks the turning point of yang within yin.

Light within Darkness.

Across various cultures, from South America, the Middle East, China, Japan, Northern Europe, to Antarctica (see here),

We all celebrate and worship the sun and warmer days to come.

Even though it is very cold outside the last few days,

I find this time around to be the most refreshing.

Biking down an empty street before dawn, breathing in cold, crisp air into my lungs.

To be able to FEEL, what a special gift we have.

Although my last post might cause some unease,

I want to remind you that darkness makes us appreciate the light.

Or even recognize it.

I hope you find a moment to appreciate the moments and your people in 2024.

I wish you and your family a happy holiday season!

P.S. Sesame Tang Yuan (sweet rice ball) is a traditional food eaten on Winter Solstice or any time in the winter
