That equates 82.2 years.
The average lifespan for Americans is 79 years.
How do you spend your 30,000 days?
We want to live a long and happy life, right?
But we are so focused on the number and forget the most important aspect of longevity…
Our quality of life.
This can be defined and measured in many ways, but the most fundamental is the quality of our health.
Are we independent, self-reliant, and able to fully participate in life events?
Or are we struggling to get by on a daily basis?
Take a moment to reflect.
What kind of life do you want to live now?
Instead of dreading what the future might be like, focus on how you want to spend this moment.
The choices we make today create part of our future. (letting go of control is the other part)
I learned this lesson early by observing by grandparents’ lifestyle.
We lived right next to each other, which gave me a unique view into their lives.
At 5am, they went for morning walks in the park.
Throughout the day, they would get their own groceries, cook three meals, take care of my younger cousin, and enjoy their favorite TV shows.

This lifestyle was maintained into their 90s, a few years before they passed away.
In our culture, death and old-age are often taboo subjects that we are afraid to discuss.
In Chinese’s Taoist and Buddhist’s philosophy, there is a profound approach to embrace life’s inevitable cycle.
“Birth, Aging, Illness, and Death” (生老病死)
This concept reminds us aging and death are part of our human existence and experience.
Now is the time to plan how to flourish, to live well and purposefully.
Moment by moment.
One day at a time.
